Boy Scouts of America Prepared for Life

Scouts BSA Troop 444

Scouts BSA Troop 444/6444 offers a year-round adventure-based program designed to offer and encourage effective character, citizenship, and fitness training for youth ages 11-17.

In addition to camping, Scouts and adult leaders enjoy activities such as rock-climbing and rappelling, canoeing, target-shooting, visits to military bases, and more while accommodating the needs of today’s busy families.

Scout Troop Meetings are held every Monday Evening at 6:30pm at Vilonia United Methodist Church. The church is located at 5 Church St, Vilonia, AR 72173.

Our Troop’s History

Our troop was founded in 1991 and the current sponsor is the Vilonia United Methodist Church. We are celebrating our 30th Anniversary as a Troop in Vilonia, Arkansas. The Troop has enjoyed serving our community and church by doing projects for them and more.  Since the Troop was charted we have had 25 Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle. Our Eagle projects have helped local schools, churches, and charities.

Scouting Events

Our most recent events have taken us canoeing, rafting, mountain climbing in the Ozark Mountains, and week-long camps in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.  Every year we try to squeeze in caving, biking, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, wilderness survival camping, outdoor cooking competitions, rifle and shotgun shooting events, and orienteering.

Merit Badges

Merit badges are awards earned by youth members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), based on activities within an area of study by completing a list of periodically updated requirements. The purpose of the merit badge program is to allow Scouts to examine subjects to determine if they would like to further pursue them as a career or a vocation.
