Mr Rector and Mr. Palmer took a group out to work on Hiking MB during Christmas break.
In January, the FlapJack20 was cancelled due to snow.
In February, we had our winter Lock-In. We went to Altitude Trampoline Park, and had a great time.
The Troop attended the Council Stemoree this October. We had Jamboree on the Air, Rockets, Shooting Sports, and Robotics. We stayed in the summer camp tents, which was nice, once the spiders were removed. Everybody made a rocket and shot them up into the sky, except one which was caught by a tree. We even did some chemistry (see photo.)
According to the records at the Scout Office, this is our 25th year as a Troop in Vilonia, Arkansas. It was founded on May 1, 1991 by the Vilonia Schools. We have been chartered with the Vilonia United Methodist Church since 2004. We have been active in the Vilonia Community, the Foothills District and Quapaw Area Council for the past 25 years.
The Troop had their End of Summer Lock-In at the Church, last Friday night. The Scouts got in the van, and we drove to the Little Rock Climbing Center, where we climbed for 2 hours. We stopped at Wendy’s to get a late night snack, and then we returned to the church and stay up till dawn playing board games, watching movies, and playing video games.
We have a added links to Philmont Backpacking Trail Menu in the Resources area. This is a excellent tool to help you figure out your food to take on trips and hikes.
We have also added a link to Charlie Williams website, about Hiking in the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains. The website gives you descriptions and maps of the trails in our state. Charlie is a contributor to Backpacker magazine, and has hike most of the state.
We have also added this year summer camp information about classes and schedule.
The Troop went to Petit Jean State Park for their Winter Campout. We had excellent weather for it with warm sunny days, and nice nights. We had a cracker barrel Friday night, and a hike after breakfast on Saturday. Saturday afternoon we worked on advancement requirements, played chess, and hanged out in hammocks. We had two of the Webelos II’s to hike with us Saturday, and they both did very well.
We might go back every Winter Campout to Petit Jean, it has a very nice Group Camp Area. Here is a picture from the hike.
The Pack invited the Troop to the Pack 444 Fall Family Campout, it was November 6, 7, and 8. The Troop entertained and taught the Cub Scouts scout craft skills that the cubs need for their ranks. We also helped in the flag retirement ceremony and attended the fire all night.
