Pack/Troop Spring Campout
The pack invited the troop to attend their spring campout. We had a great time, even if the raccoon got into the food pantry, just like in Great Outdoors. We planned the campfire for the cubs, and then roasted smores.

Boy Scouts is a boy led organization; adults are present to guide, offer advice, and ensure activities are safe.
The Scouting program uses The Patrol Method, which means the Troop members will ELECT their own leaders; individual Patrol Leaders and a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) who takes on “ownership” and holds the actual leadership position within the Troop. The SPL appoints an assistant (Assistant Senior Patrol Leader – ASPL) and various other positions such as Scribe, Quartermaster, Historian, Librarian, etc.
Adult leaders work with the SPL and ASPL to make program decisions, plan agendas, and lead meetings.
Patrol Leaders are responsible for the well being and actions of their individual patrol and represent their patrol in the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC).
At the PLC meeting (chaired by the SPL), Patrol Leaders plan details regarding future trips and troop meetings. Adult leaders keep them on track with suggestions and advice, but the decisions are ultimately left up to the boys.
Boy leadership makes sure the Troop is doing the things the boys themselves want to do, as well as developing the leadership, communication, problem resolution, and organizational skills that underscore why Scouts excel in all other areas of their lives.
Scouts BSA Troop 444/6444 offers a year-round adventure-based program designed to offer and encourage effective character, citizenship, and fitness training for youth ages 11-17.
In addition to camping, Scouts and adult leaders enjoy activities such as rock-climbing and rappelling, canoeing, target-shooting, visits to military bases, and more while accommodating the needs of today’s busy families.
Scout Troop Meetings are held every Monday Evening at 6:30pm at Vilonia United Methodist Church. The church is located at 5 Church St, Vilonia, AR 72173.
Our troop was founded in 1991 and the current sponsor is the Vilonia United Methodist Church. We are celebrating our 30th Anniversary as a Troop in Vilonia, Arkansas. The Troop has enjoyed serving our community and church by doing projects for them and more. Since the Troop was charted we have had 25 Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle. Our Eagle projects have helped local schools, churches, and charities.
Our most recent events have taken us canoeing, rafting, mountain climbing in the Ozark Mountains, and week-long camps in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Every year we try to squeeze in caving, biking, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, wilderness survival camping, outdoor cooking competitions, rifle and shotgun shooting events, and orienteering.
Merit badges are awards earned by youth members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), based on activities within an area of study by completing a list of periodically updated requirements. The purpose of the merit badge program is to allow Scouts to examine subjects to determine if they would like to further pursue them as a career or a vocation.
